About

The School of Artificial Intelligence and Science at Nanjing University is one of the first colleges established on the Suzhou campus. At a time when artificial-intelligence technologies have become a defining element of new, high-quality productive forces and are driving the next wave of the information-technology revolution, the School adheres to the University’s guiding principle of “uniform standards, differentiated development” for all campuses. It leverages the National Key Laboratory for Novel Software Technology at Nanjing University, and focuses on cutting-edge research directions such as computer vision and pattern recognition, embodied and spatial intelligence systems, AI for Science, cognitive intelligence based on large language models, and brain-inspired and human–machine hybrid intelligence. At the same time, the School highlights multi-disciplinary integration in line with the Suzhou campus’s orientation toward emerging engineering disciplines, and carries out talent development, key-technology research, and technology transfer for key sectors such as intelligent manufacturing, health care, and defense technology.

The School currently has a world-class faculty of nearly 50 members, including one academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, one national leading talent, one New-Century Talent of the Ministry of Education, and ten national young talents. It admits and trains 250 undergraduate students each year. The School offers master’s and doctoral degree programs in Computer Science and Technology and in Electronic Information, with 60 doctoral supervisors (42 of whom are full-time). It has established the Research Center for Visual Computing and Intelligent Perception, and jointly operates the Nanjing University–China Mobile Joint Research Institute and the National Institute of Health and Medical Big Data at Nanjing University.
