2020 John Rabe Memorial Hall Annual Conference Nanjing University was successfully held in the Golden Eagle Summit Hotel on November 23. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and the 70th anniversary of the death of John Rabe"The Good German of Nanjing". November 23 is John Rabe’s birthday, and John Rabe Memorial hall has chosen this date to hold the annual meeting, which is the best commemoration and memory for him.

Work Report

Mr. Yang Shanyou, Assistant Curator of John Rabe Memorial Hall, reported the work between November 23, 2019  and the end of this October. The work report covered eight aspects, including Meeting Feedback, News Links, Visitors, Big Events,Renovations, Cooperation and Exchanges, Media Communications,Research Achievements and Achieve Distinctions. Then, he delivered the financial audit report of 2020 John Rabe Memorial Hall.Finally, he expressed that summarizing the past year is aimed to focus on the reality and the future. For more than a decade, all the friendly people who care about the cause of peace have contributed to today's success of John Rabe Memorial Hall and continuous support of the guests will surely make John Rabe Memorial Hall a more brilliant tomorrow.

Discuss the main work

In discussion session, guests fully affirmed the achievements of John Rabe Memorial Hall in the past year under the care and support of leaders from Nanjing University, and congratulated on the success of this annual conference.They discussed the main work of John Rabe Memorial Hall in 2021.They also suggested that a celebration could be planned for the next year, the 15th anniversary of John Rabe Memorial Hall.Then we can invite Thomas Rabe , grandson of John Rabe and the other old friends to get together.Guests also put forward some constructive suggestions on international volunteer service and media publicity of John Rabe  Memorial Hall, etc. Relevant leaders of Nanjing University also expressed that they would provide sufficient support for John Rabe Memorial Hall. Mrs. Wu Mei, Curator of Archives, answered the relevant questions and thanked the guests for their suggestions. She also said that John Rabe Memorial Hall would rely on the support of Nanjing University to implement all the suggestions.

He fully affirmed the achievements by John Rabe Memorial Hall in the past ten years, and hoped that John Rabe Hall would enhance all kinds of basic work in the future, constantly sum up the experience for a future higher level. He said that next year, the 15th anniversary of John Rabe Memorial Hall, the fourth term of Nanjing University John Rabe Development Fund will be signed, hoping to receive continuously strong support from all parties, which is the basis of the development of John Rabe Memorial Hall.  He also expressed war is a mirror, it can make people better understand the value of peace, and arouse people's yearning for peace.All in all,this is the original intention of Nanjing University to establish John Rabe Memorial Hall, which is our mission as a university. As Chinese President Xi Jinping said,"Chinese people commemorate Rabe because he had a great love for life as well as for the pursuit of peace."Nanjing University will continue to support the development of John Rabe Memorial Hall to make more contributions in promoting campus culture, carrying forward the humanitarian spirit,promoting the peaceful development of mankind.
